Current students are invited to stop by The Wave, grab a coffee and engage in some casual career conversation with guest alumni networkers. This is the perfect place to ask questions and start making some connections!

There is no cost to attend this complimentary event, and the coffee and treats are on us. Students are requested to register online in advance.

Vanessa completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Western before pursuing a Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. She gained clinical experience in the management of ocular disease, contact lenses and pediatrics on internships in Florida, South Carolina and the GTA before returning to practice at Optometrists on Colborne in downtown London. She has volunteered on an eye care mission to Romania and is a member of the Health Care Provider Champion Group with the Middlesex-London Health Unit.

After graduating from the Department of Computer Science in 2007, Kyler knew he did not want to spend his career working in a cubicle as a programmer. However, like many young people, he didn't know exactly what he *did* want to do. Thus began Kyler’s journey of self-discovery. He now owns and runs 2 businesses with a focus on websites and technology, he manages and markets his breakdance crew, and he pursues entrepreneurial ventures.

As a sole proprietor, Kyler provides websites and targeted web marketing to help his clients discover customers. As a founding partner at NationWorks, he helps non-profits by combining their required tools under a single, scalable platform. And as a founding member of Ill at Will Breakin’ Crew, Kyler enjoys coordinating paid gigs and performing at weddings, business events, and festivals. 

john brantonJohn Branton BA’80, Certified Financial Planner
John Branton is a Certified Financial Planner with over 30 years of experience, having worked in both Ontario and British Columbia. After graduating from Western, John earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the Financial Planners Standards Council, his Chartered Financial Planner designated from the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning, and completed the Professional Financial Planning and Conducts and Practices courses offered by the Canadian Securities Institute.

While living in British Columbia, John enjoyed mentoring students enrolled in the University of Victoria’s Business program. Now, he is involved with David Foster fundraising gala events and is an active member of Western’s alumni branch here in London.

Keith Gibbons BA'75, Retired teacher and textbook author
Keith Gibbons retired in January 2014 after 35 years of teaching science for the London District Catholic School Board (15 years as Science Department Head). During his teaching career, he was a football and track and field coach at both Catholic Central and Regina Mundi Catholic College. Keith is a science textbook author and editor for McGraw Hill Ryerson, having authored or co-authored over 30 science textbooks and/or science curriculum materials. Keith is a former Science Curriculum Coordinator for the Science Teachers' Association of Ontario and Board Secretary for Dale Brain Injury Services and Board member for over 25 years.
