Recent Advances in the Animal Modeling of Concussion
The See the Line Scientific Workshop features a series of presentations and group discussions that will address pressing issues in the animal modeling of concussion:
- What are the advantages and limitations of animal models of concussion?
- What are the biomechanics of concussion and how can they best be reproduced in an animal model of concussion?
- How do we scale the biomechanics of concussion to create real-world relevant animal models?
- How does the pathology in animal models of concussion compare to that of human concussion?
- How do potential biomarkers of concussion (cognitive, imaging, metabolomics, etc.) compare between humans and animals?
- Are the long-term consequences of concussion like CTE observed in animal models of concussion?
The afternoon will also include keynote lectures by Cheryl Wellington, PhD, Professor, Department of
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, UBC and Nicholas M. Kanaan, PhD, Associate Professor,
Translational Science & Molecular Medicine, Michigan State University.
Who attends? Researchers, postdoctoral fellows, graduate trainees and graduate students. Note: this is an academic session and not intended for a lay audience.
