Fighting the Storm: Shakespeare and the Stratford Festival

The 2014 Stratford Festival season is centred on the theme of ‘madness’. Margaret Jane Kidnie, English professor Western, explores mental health in relation to two plays, King Lear and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, that are intimately concerned with ideas of family. How do the ‘fantasies’ of Dream’s lovers and poets take on tragic resonances by the time Shakespeare turns his hand to Lear?

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Please register online by Monday, April 28, 2014.
