Current students are invited to stop by The Wave, grab a coffee and engage in some casual career conversation with guest alumni networkers. This is the perfect place to ask questions and start making some connections!

There is no cost to attend this complimentary event, and the coffee and treats are on us. Students are requested to register online by Monday, January 12, 2015.

Michelle Foote, HBA'88, Client Relationship Manager, Scotiabank

Michelle is currently a Relationship Manager at Scotiabank – Commercial Banking. Michelle’s career has been in the Banking industry in various roles in Corporate Human Resources, Corporate Marketing and Commercial Banking. Key projects/roles include developing international salary policies, individual sales and service tracking, national customer service initiatives and commercial banking sales and underwriting. Michelle is also very involved in the community, particularly in local hockey administration and management and support for local health non-profits such as the Thyroid Foundation and the London Distress Centre.

Joyce Thomas, BA'06, JD Law'09, Associate, Lerners LLP
Joyce practices in the Commercial Litigation Group at Lerners LLP in London, Ontario where she practices aboriginal law which includes advising first nation communities in the areas of business law, human resources, policing and treaty administration. Joyce also practices in the areas of employment law, labour law, workplace investigations, contract disputes, human rights law, and social media law. Joyce has appeared before the Divisional Court, Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice and various administrative adjudicative bodies.
She also serves as an executive member for the Young Lawyers Division of the Ontario Bar Association, volunteer board member for Orchestra London, coach for Western University’s Ontario Trial Lawyers Association moot team, supervising lawyer for London’s Small Claims Court Project, and volunteer adjudicator for Litigation Practice at Western University Faculty of Law. 

Janet Tufts, BA'81, BEd'84, Director, Community Partnerships & Investment, United Way London & Middlesex
Janet Tufts is the Director of Community Partnerships & Investment at United Way London & Middlesex where she oversees the organization’s Community Impact Agenda. Prior to this role, Janet was the Executive Director of The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame responsible for engaging stakeholders nationwide to ensure the future growth and sustainability of this non-profit organization. Janet’s experience also includes serving as a communication consultant at St. Joseph’s Health Care London providing support to the mental health leadership team. A qualified teacher who has instructed courses at Continuing Studies at Western, Janet is an active community volunteer and a member of the Rotary Club of London. In 2008, Janet traveled to Africa with a team representing Canadian Aid for Southern Sudan (CASS) to raise awareness of the dire situation in this part of the world. Janet holds a MBA from Athabasca University, and two Bachelor Degrees (English and Education) and a Professional Certificate in Communications & Public Relations from Western University. Her passion is distance running which she tested out in two Boston Marathons (2006 & 2007).

John Van Kerrebroeck, BA'87, Distribution Manager, JL International
John is the Distribution Manager for JL International, a premier food service broker in Canada representing forty food manufactures from Mexico, Europe, Unites States and Canada. John is responsible for managing key distribution accounts with annuals sales exceeding $10m. Prior to his current position at JL International, John was an Account Manager at H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. John also owns and operates Green Tree Nursery, where he grows and supplies over 40 varieties of trees to commercial and residential customers in the London Region.
