The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is pleased to offer Mini Medical School, a community lecture series focused on health topics and issues relevant to the community at large. This informative weekly series features internationally recognized researchers and faculty members from the School.

We are pleased to announce the confirmed line-up of speakers for 2017, featuring lectures from:

September 7 – Dr. Bertha Garcia, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Garcia is recognized as an exceptional educator with an extraordinary passion for medical education.

September 14 – Dr. Michael Rieder, Professor, Department of Paediatrics, Physiology and Pharmacology and Medicine, Scientist, Robarts Research Institute and Chair/Chief of the Department of Paediatrics, whose research focuses on drug safety and adverse drug reactions as well as on optimal therapeutics in children.

September 21 – Dr. Charles Weijer, Professor, Departments of Philosophy, Medicine, and Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Canada Research Chair in Bioethics, who is a philosopher and physician with an academic interest on the ethics of medical research.

September 28 - Dr.Marlys Koschinsky, Scientific and Executive Director, Robarts Research Institute, whose research focuses on Lipoprotein(a), commonly referred to as the “bad cholesterol”, a casual risk factor for coronary heart disease.

October 5 – Dr. Brian Rotenberg, Associate Professor, Division Chief Rhinology, Residency Program Director, Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, who specializes in nasal and sinus problems, endoscopic sinus surgery, endoscopic skull base surgery and snoring and sleep apnea surgery.

October 12 – Dr. Steven Laviolette, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, who focuses on exploring the effects of marijuana on youth mental health.
