Western alumni and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Economic Club of Canada in Toronto featuring Western President &
Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Amit Chakma in a fireside chat discussing, Science, Technology and Innovation: The Modern Canadian Economy. The moderator will be Simona Chiose, Postsecondary Education Reporter for the Globe and Mail.
Science, technology and innovation are essential elements of a strong economy that improves the quality of life for all Canadians—and university research is a key driver. While Canada is recognized globally for the high quality of our postsecondary sector, the pace of investment in university research has slowed over the past decade and we are falling behind other nations. Competing successfully in the global economy demands that we strive for excellence and that investment keeps pace with other countries. And meeting the ever-changing needs of the labour market will require greater collaboration among all players in the Science, Technology and Innovation ecosystem.
Ticket prices are as follows and are available online through the Economic Club of Canada webpage:
Economic Club of Canada Member price: Individual seat: $89 +HST Table (seats 10): $800 +HST
Regular (non-member) price: Individual seat: $110 +HST Table (seats 10): $990 +HST
Please register by Monday, April 24, 2017.

We invite alumni and friends to participate in our campaign, and help double the number of alumni who contribute to making Western extraordinary.
