Current students are invited to stop by The Wave, grab a coffee and engage in some casual career conversation with guest alumni networkers. This is the perfect place to ask questions and start making some connections!

There is no cost to attend this complimentary event, and the coffee and treats are on us. Students are requested to register online, but drop-ins are also welcome.

Les Kalman is an assistant professor in restorative dentistry and Chair of the DOCS program at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University.  Kalman’s research includes medical devices & technology relevant to clinical dentistry. The Dental Outreach Community Service program that Kalman oversees is a component of the senior dental curriculum that provides free dentistry to those with no other economic means.

Kalman has authored articles ranging from pediatric impression to immediate implant surgery in Canadian and International journals.  He is a member of the International Team for Implantology, Academy of Osseointegration, American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantology.  He has been recognized as an Academic Associate Fellow (AAID) and Diplomate (ICOI).  Kalman is also the founder and President of Research Driven, a corporation that manages intellectual property related to medical device technologies.  In his spare time, Kalman enjoys photography as an accredited MotoGP photojournalist.  He can be contacted at: lkalman@uwo.ca.

After a very satisfying career in public education from which she retired as an elementary school principal in 2008, Wendy embarked on her doctorate in Curriculum Studies. She now teaches in both the preservice and professional graduate programs at the Western Faculty of Education primarily in the areas of assessment, early childhood education, and leadership.

As a researcher, she is involved in literacies projects that stem from her work with teachers and students in public schools. Wendy is very involved in her community on advocacy projects with the Low German speaking Mennonite population, sitting as a Director for London Bridge Child Care Services, and walking in the Relay for Life raising funds for cancer research.

Mandy Bennett graduated with Distinction from Western's Sociology Program in 1996. Her career has spanned across the Banking Industry, Municipal Government as well as the Not for Profit area. After 28 years, Mandy recently retired from Anago Resources Inc. where she lead major strategic change and created innovative programs for the individuals in support.

Mandy is a CPA and has also graduated from a Certificate Program at Fanshawe College. Mandy currently sits on the Fanshawe College Alumni Board and now wishes to become more active with Western Alumni.

Anne Leeson, BA'78, Certified Financial Planner

Anne achieved her Certified Financial Planning designation 2007. A former employee of a large insurance company, Anne was a mortgage specialist for nine years. Her interest in finance and desire to help people led her to personal wealth management and financial planning . Anne has served on the board of Family Services Thames Valley and is an avid tennis player.

Jamal Alaloul, BSc’10, Chiropractor
Jamal Alaloul graduated from Western in 2010 with honors in biology. Having always been attracted to health and wellness, he chose to pursue education in chiropractic studies. Jamal graduated from New York Chiropractic School in 2014 and recently opened his own chiropractic office here in London.
