When Alice Munro published her first story at Western, she began a literary journey measured by creativity. Now, more than 60 years later, praise for Alice (Laidlaw) Munro, LLD’76, has risen to universal acclaim after she was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature. In recognition of Ms. Munro’s literary career and artistic life, and her connection with Western, the University has established the Alice Munro Chair in Creativity. (more)

Unusually Thicke

Alan Thicke, BA'67, is set to star in a new reality show this April, which focuses on his life as an entertainer and family man. Thicke and his family returned to campus last summer to shoot scenes for the upcoming show, called "Unusually Thicke." (more)

Kelly Jazvac from Visual Arts and geologist Patricia Corcoran have discovered a new rock formation, a fusion of burned plastics with natural elements. They called it 'Plastiglomerate.’ (more)
