Join Alumni Western at the AGO for an exciting odyssey through the world of pioneering musician, performer and style icon David Bowie. Our Welcome Reception takes place from 5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the lower level Café, featuring appetizers, refreshments and a cash bar. Professor Norma Coates will give an exclusive talk from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Jackman Hall entitled "Not A 'Cracked Actor': David Bowie and the Theatre of Rock." Norma will explore notions of theatre and authenticity in rock music as played (and played with) by Bowie. At 7:00 p.m. alumni will enjoy self-guided tours of the David Bowie is timed-entry exhibit. You will be provided with a headset to experience a sensory tour that immerses you in the music, videos and interview clips that bring the objects, costumes and art of David Bowie to life. The registration fee is $20 per person and includes the talk by Professor Coates, admission to the David Bowie is exhibit, as well as appetizers and refreshments.
