Please join us at the 2013 J. Allyn Taylor Public Forum, focusing on Cardiovascular and Vascular Biology. In the last decade, the cardiovascular death rate in Canada has declined by 40 per cent (Statistics Canada 2011) largely due to research advances in diagnostic and surgical procedures, drug therapies and prevention efforts. The public forum offers an opportunity to learn about research advances in "lay" language from international scientists who are leaders in the field. This year's topic will foster a dynamic and lively panel discussion: "Will advances in medical therapy make cardiac surgery obsolete?" A question and answer period will follow. The public forum will be moderated by Dr. Peter Lin, MD; CCFP; Director, Primary Care Initiatives, Canadian Heart Research Centre; Medical Director, LinCorp Medical Inc.; and CBC Medical Columnist.
