Thank you in your interest in this event, however the room has hit capacity. To add your name to the wait list please email, comms@shculich.uwo.ca. From concept to clinical testing and commercialization: Café Scientifique, sponsored by the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, is an opportunity for members of the community to explore, discuss, and debate the latest topics in medical science and research with an expert. Participants can offer their opinions, ask questions, or just listen. This year's event will focus on prostate cancer and will feature Dr. Aaron Fenster and Dr. Joe Chin, two members of London's robust team of health care professionals and researchers dedicated to research and the detection, treatment and care of those men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Researchers such as Dr. Fenster and clinicians such as Dr. Chin work together to identify key needs in the detection and treatment of prostate cancer. From questions raised in the clinic, concepts for new devices are developed and then they are moved into clinical testing locally. The ultimate goal is for these new medical devices to move into the commercialization stage so that they can be then applied to other communities benefitting the broader population. Dr. Fenster and Dr. Chin will share more information about their work and about some of the latest achievements in the development of new detection devices for prostate cancer that they have worked on together and with other health care communities. After their 30-minute informal presentation there will be a brief break (with complimentary refreshments) and then a question, answer, and discussion period. This event is free, but we ask that you R.S.V.P. online by Monday, September 16, 2013. Complimentary refreshments will be served at the event. No scientific knowledge is assumed by the speakers so that everyone can participate in an informal and accessible atmosphere. |
