Mountains and Rivers Without End is a collaborative art exhibition, initiated by the Visual Arts Department which takes place in Artlab and Concourse Gallery spaces in the John Labatt Visual Arts Centre at Western University. The exhibition includes contemporary artists from Canada and Ecuador: Canadians Gautam Garoo, who is a Western MFA graduate, Prof. Patrick Mahon from Visual Arts, Gu Xiong, a Professor from UBC, and Ecuadorians Esteban Ayala (Hidalgo), Jenny Jaramillo, and Ulises Unda, a Western PhD candidate. The works of art address phenomenological and conceptual concerns surrounding the historical, social, and environmental effects of mining in the Portovelo region of Ecuador. |
