Classes without Quizzes: Simile, Metaphor, and the Making and Perception of Canada
|
Simile, Metaphor, and the Making and Perception of Canada Canada has been subject to countless comparisons of varying degrees of seriousness and facetiousness, from “the linchpin of the English-speaking world” (Winston Churchill) to “a loft apartment over a really great party” (Robin Williams). Join English professor and 2015 Killam Prize winner David Bentley for a discussion of the ways in which such comparisons have reflected and even helped to shape Canada and the Canadian identity. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please register online by Monday, December 5, 2016. Western Alumni is committed to accessibility for persons with disabilities. Please contact us if you have any particular accommodation requirements or require information in an alternate format.
