Tuition Draw Sweepstakes Rules 2022
“Tuition Draw Sweepstakes 2022” (the “Sweepstakes”) is administered by The University of Western Ontario (“Western University”), Department of Alumni Relations & Development (the “Sponsor”). Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Sweepstakes should be directed to The Department of Alumni Relations and Development, Western University, Westminster Hall, Suite 160, London, ON, Canada N6A 3K7. By participating in this Sweepstakes, each participant agrees to be legally bound by these official Sweepstakes entry rules (the “Rules”).
1. SWEEPSTAKES PERIOD
The Sweepstakes will take place during the Homecoming Football Game at Western Alumni Stadium on September 24, 2022 from 11 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) to 2 p.m. ET. (the “Sweepstakes Entry Period”). The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, amend, extend or suspend any time period related to the Sweepstakes, including but not limited to, the Sweepstakes Entry Period.
This Sweepstakes is open to all students enrolled in the 2022/23 academic year at Western University’s London, Ontario campus or its affiliate colleges (Brescia University College, Huron University College and Kings University College) and who have their student card scanned by one of the Sponsor’s representatives during the Homecoming Football Game on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. ET to 2:00 p.m. ET at a Homecoming Tuition Draw Booth located in the dedicated student Fan Festival area on the east side of Western Alumni Stadium. An entry is submitted when an eligible person has their student card scanned in this manner (individually, an “Entry”, and in the plural, “Entries”). Only one (1) Entry into the Sweepstakes per student is permitted. No purchase is necessary.
3. PRIZE AVAILABLE
There is a total of three (3) prize(s) available to be won (individually, a “Prize” and collectively, the “Prizes”) consisting of the following:
All amounts in these Rules are in Canadian dollars. A winner is eligible for only one Prize. * The amount of the Grand Prize corresponds to the amount of the Grand Prize winner’s actual 2022/23 academic year tuition as of September 24, 2022 and the maximum amount that will be paid/reimbursed toward such tuition by the Sponsor is eight thousand dollars ($8,000.00) CAD.
4. WINNER SELECTION:
Random Draw: Three (3) winning Entries will be randomly selected using a random-number generator and the combined excel list of all entries received by the Sponsor’s servers during the Sweepstakes Entry Period, in the order of Third Prize, Second Prize, and Grand Prize (each a “Selected Entry”). The names of students associated with the selected Entries will be announced during halftime of the Homecoming Football Game held by Western University on September 24, 2022 in the Western Alumni Stadium. In addition, the student associated with each Selected Entry will be notified by e-mail using their student email address as listed in Western’s Student Directory. The student must then report to the Homecoming Tuition Draw Booth within 20 minutes to claim the Prize and then answer a skill testing math question. Should the student fail to claim the Prize within 20 minutes, or should the student fail to correctly answer the skill testing math question, then the student’s Entry shall become ineligible to win the Prize. Should a selected entrant be found ineligible to win, another eligible Entry will be randomly selected by the Sponsor from the remaining entries. The name of the student associated with the next eligible Entry selected by Sponsor will be notified by e-mail using their student email address as listed in Western’s Student Directory. The student must report to the Homecoming Tuition Draw Booth within 20 minutes to claim the Prize and then answer a skill testing math question. Should the student fail to claim the Prize within 20 minutes or should the student fail to correctly answer the skill testing math question, then the student’s Entry shall become ineligible to win the Prize and Sponsor will select another selected Entry to win the Prize in accordance with this provision. A student (i) whose Entry is selected to win a Prize, (ii) who is notified by e-mail, (iii) who claims the Prize within 20 minutes of Sponsor’s e-mail being sent, and (iv) who correctly answers the skill testing math question, will then become an eligible prize winner (“Eligible Prize Winner”). There shall be a total of three (3) Eligible Prize Winners.
5. DECLARATION OF WINNERS:
An Eligible Prize Winner for the Prize will not be declared a winner of the Prize unless and until within five business (5) days: (i) The Sponsor has determined, in its absolute discretion, that the Eligible Prize Winner is eligible pursuant to these Rules; (ii) The Eligible Prize Winner (or the Eligible Prize Winner’s parent or guardian, if a minor) signs a release and waiver provided by the Sponsor; and (iii) The Eligible Prize Winner acknowledges acceptance of the Prize, as awarded. In the event that within the specified time: (i) the Sponsor determines that the Eligible Prize Winner is not eligible for the Prize; (ii) the Eligible Prize Winner (or the Eligible Prize Winner’s parents, if a minor) fails or refuses to sign the waiver and release; or (iii) the Eligible Prize Winner fails or refuses to accept the Prize as awarded; then the Eligible Prize Winner for the Prize will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to select by random draw from among all remaining eligible entries another selected Entry (in which case the provisions of sections 4 and 5, as applicable, shall apply to such new selected Entry).
6. ODDS OF WINNING:
The odds of winning the Prize are dependent on the number of eligible entries received by the Sponsor during the Sweepstakes Entry Period in accordance with these Rules.
7. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
7.1 Verification of Entries: The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to verify or require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to the Sponsor) from any participant in this Sweepstakes. Participants whose entries or eligibility cannot be verified to the satisfaction of Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion may be disqualified from the Sweepstakes and will not be eligible to win the Prize.
7.2 No Liability: The Releasees (defined below in Section 7.8) will not be liable for: (i) any failure of the Sweepstakes equipment, (ii) the failure to correctly record a student’s student number; (iii) any technical malfunction or other problems relating to the administration of the Sweepstakes; (iv) any failure for the participant to receive an e-mail sent by the Sponsor or present in person within the 20 minutes designated time frame for any reason; and (v) any combination of the foregoing.
