Fierce advocate of women's health, board-certified OB/GYN, and Western graduate, Dr. Jen Gunter provides science-based evidence and information to empower women everywhere.
 
In a candid discussion with Dr. Sonya Malone, Dr. Gunter will debunk and challenge patriarchal attitudes towards the menstrual cycle with medical expertise that prioritizes empathy and empowerment from a feminist perspective.

About Dr. Gunter
Dr. Jen Gunter is a board-certified OB/GYN and specialist in pain medicine who completed her residency at Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. In addition to authoring numerous academic journal articles and three books. Dr. Gunter is a regular contributor to publications such as the New York Times, The Globe and Mail and USA Today. Perhaps best known for taking on Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle brand Goop for its promotion of potentially harmful wellness products, Dr. Gunter has been dubbed "The Internet OB/GYN" and is also an esteemed public speaker and podcast host. Dr. Gunter uses her platform to engage and educate audiences, demystifying common beliefs and stereotypes surrounding menstruation, menopause and science.
 
Sonya Malone
About Dr. Sonya Malone
Dr. Sonya Malone is a family physician who completed her medical training at the University of Ottawa. She has worked in various primary care environments including comprehensive family medicine, community palliative care, student health, public health, and the coroner system. A proud Western grad, she is currently an adjunct professor in Schulich's Department of Family Medicine and employed as Western's Workplace Health Physician. Dr. Malone was a recipient of the university's prestigious Award of Excellence in 2021 and is passionate about Western University and its people. Fun facts: her high score in Scrabble is 424, and despite her rigorous scientific training, she truly believes that laughter IS the very best medicine!
