Engineering Water Management Changing Climate

Western Engineering's Water Centre presents:  Water Management Under Changing Times

Join this interactive 3-day workshop presented by Dr. Slobodan P. Simonovic. The worldwide climate is undergoing changes at an accelerated pace. The potential outcomes of these shifts in climate could be catastrophic, as heightened concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere may lead to profound, large-scale, and impactful alternations in both physical and biological systems.

This workshop encompasses presentations, discussion sessions, with illustrative examples to allow a hands-on learning experience centering around the adoption of a systems approach to tackle practical challenges associated with climate change and its effects on water resource management.

Who should attend?  Recognized towards your Professional Engineers Ontario professional development, this workshop will prove valuable to practitioners in water resources management, to those who hold an interest in climate change and effects on water quality, for officials and engineers engaged in climate change policy-making across government levels, and engineers collaborating with governments.

Speaker:

Dr. Slobodan P. Simonovic, Professor Emeritus at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of Engineering Works at the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction at Western.

As a globally recognized researcher involved in challenging engineering problems lying at the confluence of society, technology and the environment, he has published over 670 publications, three major textbooks, and has delivered over 340 keynote talks. Known for his unique interdisciplinary research in Systems Analysis and development of deterministic and stochastic simulation, optimization, multi criteria analysis, his work has been applied with a sustainable perspectives in water resource management, hydrology, energy, climate change and public infrastructure.

Partcipants will receive workshop presentations and associate materials, along with breakfast, lunch and snacks each day for the workshop between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

A certificate will be provided which can be used for PEO Annual Professional Development recognition.
