Alumni and friends are invited to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Western’s School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, hosted by the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Highlights will include campus tours and a series of keynotes highlighting faculty or alumni from each decade. The day will conclude with a cocktail reception in London Hall.

The registration fee is $35 per person and incudes lunch and one complimentary beverage at the cocktail reception.

Keynote Speaker Biographies:

Sheila HeadshotSheila MacDonald, MClSc Western, is a speech-language pathologist, collaborator, and consultant whose clinical experience with acquired brain injury spans from acute care, through to community, and lifelong adjustment. She is the author of two standardized tests of higher level cognitive-communication skills, as well as practice standards, and peer-reviewed publications on intervention and evidence-based practice. With over 30 years of clinical experience, Sheila has designed specialized clinical courses for varied audiences nationally and internationally and she consults with clinicians and researchers worldwide. Currently she is a member of the Traumatic Brain Injury Research and Scientific Writing Committee of the Academy of Neurological Communication Disorders.  In her clinical practice in Ontario, Canada, Sheila partners with individuals, their families, and team members to optimize communication competence in social, academic, and workplace settings after acquired brain injury.

Peter HeadshotPeter Stelmacovich, BSc(CD) and MClSc Western, is an audiologist with over 25 years of experience. For the past 14 years he has held progressive leadership positions at Phonak Canada, first as the FM Product Manager followed by the Director of Power and Pediatric Sales for Canada.  Currently, Peter is the Director of Category Management. This current position involves analyzing growth drivers in the hearing health care market and implementing strategies for change. In 2019, Peter completed a Master in Health Science degree from the Institute of Health, Policy, Management and Evaluation from the University of Toronto. His interests include strategy, change management, marketing and patient engagement. As a cochlear implant recipient and hearing aid wearer himself, Peter blends his audiological and management training, sales experience, and personal patient experiences in his work. Peter has been consistently recruited to speak at both Canadian and International conferences to share this unique perspective.
