Please join fellow alumni, current team members, friends and family of the Western Rowing program at the 18th Annual Virtual Western Rowing Gala.

Each year Gala offers the opportunity for the Western Rowing community to come together. Connect with current team members, reconnect with past crew mates and celebrate the achievements of our crews. Although we are unable to connect in person, we hope that you join us virtually and participate in an exciting program.

Arshay CooperWe are excited to announce that this year’s gala will feature a private presentation of the film A MOST BEAUTIFUL THING and a Q&A with the Arshay Cooper (Manley Crew Captain – Film Protagonist, A MOST BEAUTIFUL THING). Arshay Cooper grew up on the West Side of Chicago. In 1997, he joined (and later became captain of) the first African American high school rowing team. After dedicating two years of his life to AmeriCorps and then attending Le Cordon Bleu, Cooper returned to his true passion: working with young people. He coached rowing at the Chicago Urban Youth Rowing Club and worked as the youth program guidance counselor for the Victory Outreach's Midwest/Gulf Coast region. Cooper has also started several rowing programs across the country for youth from under-resourced neighborhoods so that these young people can also experience the profound change that can happen on the water. Cooper’s memoir A Most Beautiful Thing was republished on June 30, 2020 by Flatiron Books.

This year we are also excited to announce that William Donegan BA'79 BA'80 MA'80 and Glen Davis BA'64 MA'66 posthumously will be inducted into our Western Rowing Wall of Excellence.

Get ready for an amazing experience!
