|
New, rescheduled date
This jam is amplified, so just glide and let your backbone slide!
Western alumni, friends and their families are invited to a literary and musical adventure with Juno-nominated, Canadian Hip Hop legend Maestro Fresh Wes and Faculty of Education alumna Rhodora Meliton-Vanderpool, BA’98, BEd’99. The two teamed up to write the children's book Stick to Your Vision. Young Maestro Goes to School, which celebrates family, mentorship and the contributions of elementary school teachers to children’s success. This is a free family event – all participants are encouraged to bring a gently used or new book, which will be donated to a LUSO, a local community service agency supporting families in need.
The book will be available to purchase and have signed at the event.
Live and in person, Rhodora and Wes will reflect on their Western experiences and discuss the themes of perseverance, motivation and the importance of teachers. Wes will read a chapter from the book and perform his new single, Backpack Check. Williams recently released his ninth studio album, a Juno nominated children's album called, Champagne Campaign. He has played school teacher Paul Dwyer on the CBC series, Mr. D. and he is currently host of the CBC original competition series Race Against the Tide. Rhodora Meliton-Vanderpool is a proud Western alumna and has dedicated over 20 years to teaching in Toronto. She is an educator, advocate, mentor and author.
