Music has the power to inspire, enlighten and transform. This presentation will focus on the personal journey and reflections of the founder of The Aeolian Performing Arts Centre and how music changed the course of his life and others in very unexpected ways. The presentation includes musical performance and story.

Al Christie: Hollywood Director, Producer and Forgotten Film Pioneer
Hollywood film history begins with Al Christie. Born and raised in London, Ontario, Al was the first Canadian, first ever producer/director in Hollywood since its inception in 1911. Learn about Al and his indelible mark on the movie industry during his 30-year career.

Building Sustainability from the Ground Up
The Centre for Sustainable Curating is a hub for teaching, learning, and information on focused on museums, and environmental and social justice. The centre encourages the develpment of low-waste, low-carbon exhibitions and artworks. While musems have long been known as excellent storytellers and educators, they are often high energy users, with exhibition cycles that produce extensive waste. This talk will explain how museums operate, and what change can mean in the sector.

Delivering the Mail—A Century Later
In 2023, Jonathan Vance and his research team marked Remembrance Day in a special way: by making reproductions of First World War postcards and mailing them to the same addresses that had received them one hundred years earlier. Find out how the project came together, and how it encouraged people to think about the connections between the past and the present.

Remembrance Day Ceremony (November 8)
11:00-11:30 a.m.
Senior Alumni members are invited to join the ceremony in the auditorium following the lectures. Hosted by the Faculty of Education music teacher candidates, the ceremony begins with a moment of silence, followed by a series of musical performances. No additional registration is required.
